Marianne Tyler Brown professional cellist and educator combines her expertise as performer, alongside her teaching practice, academic research in psychology, social science and her outreach music projects with Symphonic Tots and Kids Musical Journey Projects. Biography Marianne studied the cello (performers course) and second study piano at The Royal Academy of Music London(Derek Simpson and David Smith) Royal Northern College of Music (Eduardo Vassallo) and Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary(Csaba Onczay) and was awarded a Masters in Cultural Management from City University, Masters in Science in Psychosocial Studies from Birkbeck /University College London, Certificate in Counselling and PGCHE with QTLS. She has successfully completed final Masters in Science dissertation in Psychosocial studies with distinction, writing about and researching music in wellbeing and community settings and the vital role music can play in healing and personal development. Having performed with leading orchestras and ensembles including The Halle, Welsh National Opera and Bratislava Chamber orchestra her work has also led to recordings for BBC Radio, Television and ITV. Solo and chamber performances include venues throughout the UK and Europe including St James Piccadilly, Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, Burgh House, Lauderdale House, Stanjel, Castle Slovenia and Palace of The Arts in Budapest.

Music Classes 5 My son had such a wonderful experience at this group. I really noticed his language development improve by singing the songs. It was a wonderful introduction to him playing a musical instrument. He also made some friends and so did I. Thank you Marianne and team , a fab group.

Performance 5 Marianne is a wonderful performer! She played solo Cello during our marriage ceremony as the guests arrived and at various points in the service. She was quite hidden from view playing high up in the gallery but the beautiful music caught everyone's attention and caused lots of heads to turn and a standing ovation at the end from all our guests. I highly recommend Marianne for any special occasion.

Symphonic Tots 5 I used to take the children to Symphonic Tots, when they were little. It was a lot of fun with instruments, and every week Marianne used to bring different guests to present an instrument and play for the children. Very enjoyable classes! Thank you for that Marianne! Inspirational cello teacher 5 Marianne has taught cello to my daughter from 5 years old and my daughter has just taken her grade 8 at 13 - that says it all! Marianne is a dedicated and inspiring teacher . She works tirelessly to get the best out of her pupils and has high standards that really motivated my daughter to excel. She is an intuitive teacher and respects the individuality of all her pupils. I particularly like the way she speaks to her pupils and gauges from them what they should do . It helps the pupil to take responsibility and commit to her. Marianne brings her vast experience to her lessons and the concerts she holds. She is an enriching teacher and her determination to get the very best out of her pupils shines in every lesson. She is a truly gifted cellist and teacher .

Marianne Tyler Brown 5 Marianne is a wonderful music teacher! She tutored my daughter in piano at a time when she was becoming bored with learning the piano with her previous teacher. Marianne made the piano lessons fun and introduced my daughter to some newer and more challenging music which really helped to encourage her enjoyment of learning to play the piano. I would highly recommend Marianne for her calm and patient manner and inspiration as a music teacher! I have also been very privileged to have attended a live cello performance of Marianne‘s, which I thoroughly enjoyed. More recently, through lockdown, I have enjoyed regularly watching Marianne’s Sunday afternoon tea concerts on Facebook. Marianne is a very talented and inspiring musician and I would definitely recommend looking her up!

Private home concert 5 Marianne did a spectacular home concert for my elderly Dad in his garden this summer. My Dad is not a wordy person and when he describes something as an 'experience of a lifetime', I know its a memory he'll carry with him forever. Marianne's beautiful mini Bach concerto is something we'll always remember - an absolute pleasure to experience. Thank you so much Marianne xxxx

Symphonic Tots 5 I am a childminder and work with an Assistant. We used to take 6 children to weekly Symphonic Tots sessions. These sessions were different from other music sessions. The children had fun whilst learning. We used to sing all the favourite nursery rhymes but with a difference: using different musical instruments, for example the harp, violin etc. Marianne would arrange for musicians to come and play their instruments, eg the harp and the children would have a turn playing with a small harp. We look forward to classes starting again.
