Forty Hall, Forty Hill, Enfield EN2 9HA, Enfield, Enfield, EN2 9HA, United Kingdom,

Saturday 22nd June or 21st September at 9:30am - 5.00pm Forty Hall, Forty Hill, Enfield EN2 9HA Make a gorgeous “Drop Sleeve Top” in this dressmaking workshop with everything provided for you; fabric, buttons, thread, sewing pattern and instructions (worth £20). This class will introduce beginners on how to sew a garment together using a sewing machine. Start by learning how to find your size, cut out a sewing pattern, place the pattern onto fabric correctly, transfer pattern notations and cut. You will learn how to sew the garment accurately and have lots of fun creating your own Drop Sleeve Top. The Drop Sleeve Top is a gorgeous top with easy to set in sleeves, a round neckline and loose boxy shape, designed to be easy to put together and fit most shapes. Sizes UK 6- 22. Skills needed: This workshop is aimed at those have basic sewing skills and have used a sewing machine. This is not a class for absolute beginners. You should be able to thread the sewing machine, wind a bobbin with thread, as well as use the machine to make basic stitches such as a straight stitch. We will help you with more complicated issues such as machine tension. This workshop is perfect for those that haven't created their own garments or would like to create a super, wearable top, picking up great tips along the way. Sewing machines: Various sewing machines will be provided, however, we promote people bringing their own sewing machine. If you are bringing your own sewing machine, please email [email protected] after booking so that we can confirm your machine is suitable. If you bring your own machine, please bring an empty bobbin for the machine and all the parts that came with the machine. Don’t forget the foot pedal and cords. About your teacher: Lisa Falconer is a sewing teacher and the seamstress behind The Avid Seamstress pattern company. You can find Lisa online at The Avid Seamstress. Materials: A kit will be provided; fabric, buttons, thread, sewing pattern and instructions. You will also be able to keep your pattern and the instructions so that you can make yourself more versions. (Please note that the image in the advert is not the fabric that will be used). Refreshments: This workshop will include tea & coffee, biscuits and cake. Please bring your own lunch/cold drink.
