Paul Jones & Dave Kelly – A harmonica, a guitar, two authentic Blues voices and a repertoire of songs and stories from a life in the Blues Business! Paul Jones began his career in 1962, when Brian Jones asked him to join the 'Rolling Stones'. Instead, he joined the legendary 'Manfred Mann' who, following their Blues apprenticeship playing with the like of Otis Spann and Sonny Boy Williamson, were soon topping the charts with perennial hits like ‘Do Wah Diddy’ and ‘Pretty Flamingo’. His versatility led him to become a skilled actor performing in films and on the West End stage and Broadway. He sang with Julie Covington on the original concept album of Evita. A prolific composer for film, television and commercials his work has been used by artists like Carlos Santana and Al Kooper. Paul hosted the BBC Radio 2 ‘Blues Show’ for over 25 years. In 1979 this hit singer and master of the harmonica went back to his roots and formed the ‘Blues Band’ joining up with guitar ace Dave Kelly, and they are still going strong after 40 years! Dave Kelly has been called ‘Europe’s Premier Bluesman'. He started his career back in the 1960s with his much missed sister, Jo Ann Kelly, alongside the John Dummer Band, playing with Howling Wolf and John Lee Hooker. His virtuosity as a Blues singer and guitarist led to many solo albums and soundtracks for BBC's ‘King of the Ghetto’ and ‘The Comic Strip’. His fame reached new heights in 2013 when he joined a galaxy of guitar heroes including Albert Lee and James Burton at the epic Vancouver Blues Festival. His repertoire delves into all his passions from Buddy Holly to Muddy Waters, from ‘down-home’ country to heartfelt love songs. Dave has a memorable voice underpinned by stunning fretboard artistry. In UK popular culture dynamic duo’s loom large - Sam and Dave, Wallace and Gromit, Batman and Robin, Chas and Dave, Morecombe and Wise, Lennon and McCartney... and The Hairy Bikers! The list is long and impressive. But, when it comes to the Blues, Paul Jones and Dave Kelly reign supreme. The Blues is more popular today than it has ever been. Young musicians ‘cut their teeth’ on its enticing appeal, but its real rewards - true virtuosity, poise and knowledge - only come with age! A live acoustic show by this dynamic duo is pure joy, and a must for every true fan of the Blues. Date: Sat 25 Jan Time: 7.30pm Tickets: From £20
