Health Means...? Exhibition by Oasis Hub Hadley

“Exhibit” is a visual arts group run by Oasis Hub Hadley for young people in and around Enfield. Exhibit has the aim of using art to explore complex contemporary issues whilst building the social skills of the young people involved. After its first year of running, Exhibit is proud to present its debut public display “Health Means…?”. Through participating in Exhibit, young people have used art to discuss pertinent issues surrounding topics such as community, the environment and managing emotions. As a result, the young people chose holistic health as the theme for their first ever exhibition in order to tie all of their learning together into a larger frame of work. The idea of health that the young people wished to express is one that is multidimensional and takes health to have physical, emotional, mental and social implications. The “Health Means…?” exhibition includes a variety of both paintings and sculpture. The young people went through a vigorous process of considering colour palettes, textures and shapes in order to best communicate what they believe is necessary to promote a healthy life. We hope that it also presents the limitless creativity amongst the young people in Enfield and inspires others to engage more with art particularly as a form of expression and communication.
