SUFFRAGISTS & SUFFRAGETTES IN ENFIELD, EDMONTON & SOUTHGATE

In April 2018 a statue of Millicent Fawcett was unveiled in Parliament Square. On the Plinth were listed 59 names of women & men who contributed to the fight to win the vote in 1918 & in 1928. At least 10 of those names campaigned in our borough.

WWI AIRSHIP RAID OVER ENFIELD

On the 3rd September 1916, Lieutenant William Leefe Robinson flying his BE2c aircraft tracked the SL11 airship over Enfield and fired on it, bringing it down in a field in Cuffley.
This illustrated talk will focus on the Cuffley airship and Enfield’s ‘night to remember’. David is a member of the Airship Heritage Trust and a committee member of Cross & Cockade International (The First World War Aviation Historical Society).
