35 hours per week Salary: £25,000 Based in Walthamstow At Social Spider CIC we publish three monthly community newspapers, written by and for localpeople. We launched our first newspaper, Waltham Forest Echo, in 2014 and have sincelaunched Tottenham Community Press (2016) and Enfield Dispatch (2018). We are a not forprofit social enterprise that puts the concerns of our community at the heart of our publications.We are looking to take on an Advertising and Sales Manager for our papers. The Manager will beresponsible for selling advertising across all three papers and will also be in charge ofresearching and implementing new commercial partnerships and initiatives.We are at the forefront of developing a new sustainable model for creating local news; this roleis an exciting opportunity for someone who would like to work for a small and innovative socialenterprise that is changing local media for the better. .Duties include: ●Researching opportunities for local and national advertising, primarily in print but alsoonline; ●Selling advertising to new and existing clients; ●Developing and maintaining relationships with clients; ●Maintaining databases of all sales and pipelines; ●Ensuring sales targets are met; ●Exploring opportunities for online revenue; ●Developing relationships with the local community by attendingevents and forging new partnerships; ●Exploring new revenue streams for local newspapers Person SpecificationWe are looking for an independent and confident Advertising and Sales Manager. The post-holder will be expected to take responsibility for meeting targets and driving new sales.We are looking for someone with previous experience selling advertising, who can display agood understanding of the local news landscape. The post-holder should be enthusiastic about playing an integral role in the development of anindependent news publisher. They should take the initiative to explore new possible revenuestreams for local news and have an active interest in the future of the sector. Essential skills and experiences ●Experience selling advertising space ●Experience managing sales ●Experience managing and maintaining client relations ●Experience working independently ●Strong written and verbal communication skills ●Interest in local media ●Strong organisational skills ●Experience using CRM software Responsible to The Advertising and Sales Manager will be responsible to David Floyd, Publisher and Anna Merryfield, Community Media Director. About us Social Spider CIC is a social enterprise based in north London. We publish three localnewspapers on a monthly basis and have an overall print circulation of 32,500. We are a small, fast paced organisation at an exciting stage of its development, having launched three papers in 5 years. We are at the cutting edge of developing a sustainable modelfor creating accountable and engaged local news at a time when traditional models are insevere decline.
